The TST-55 soil permeameter (falling head permeameter) is a laboratory device designed according to ASTM D5084 and BS 1377-5, used to determine the permeability coefficient of cohesive soils under falling head conditions. The instrument features a middle screw compression seal and consists of an upper cover, base, sleeve, cutting ring, porous stones, and screw rod. A prepared soil specimen is placed in the cutting ring and installed in the permeameter. An external water supply provides falling head pressure, and the time for the water head to drop is recorded. The permeability coefficient is calculated based on specimen dimensions and the cross-sectional area of the water head tube. Compact, well-sealed, and easy to operate.
