The TST-55 soil permeameter uses the falling head method to determine the permeability coefficient of cohesive soils. Made of stainless steel or corrosion-resistant metal, it consists of an upper cover, base, sleeve, cutting ring, porous stones, and screw rod. The middle screw compression design ensures good sealing and easy operation. A saturated soil specimen is placed in the cutting ring and installed in the permeameter. An external water supply provides a falling head; the time for the water head to drop a specified distance is recorded, and the permeability coefficient is calculated using Darcy’s law. Two sizes of porous stones (φ68mm and φ65mm) are available for different soil particle sizes. Lightweight (approx. 3.5kg) and compact for routine lab use. Multiple cutting rings and porous stones can be ordered for higher testing efficiency.
